Some very sound advice…

Get Slow
Leave your watch on the bedside table.
Check email only twice a day.
Take the scenic route.
Light candles before you start to cook dinner.
Make up rituals.
Say a silent word of thanks and make eye contact with everyone at the table before you start eating.
Let the phone ring several times before answering.
Make a handmade present for a friend.
Set aside one night a week all for yourself.
Spend as much time outdoors in natural settings as you possibly can.
Pay attention to cycles of the moon and the shifting seasons.
Sit for a moment with your eyes closed when you start your computer.
Take a few moments before you climb out of bed in the morning to remember your dreams and think about what you want from the day.
Factor in an additional 25% every time you estimate how long something will take.
Always jump at the chance to play with a child.
Never pack your schedule so that there’s no room for a short walk.
Take a left where you generally take a right.

this is so wonderful and yet I felt a little sad – maybe because I don't do enough of them! I've just put a post up about taking time to document and record which is maybe a little about paying more attention . . . oh and a little video I made 😉

lovely, lovely thoughts here Concetta 🙂

what a great list. i read the book "in praise of slowness" and "the circle of simplicity" several years ago. i'm a firm believer in slowing down, keeping life simple. i think i'm very happy for living my life that way these days.

An excellent post Concetta and a great reminder to really enjoy and appreciate life, and not to be so busy that we just exist!

ah, yes "In Praise of Slow" – we bought a batch and gave it to our friends for Christmas several years ago. He has written another on parenting called Under Pressure (author Carl Honore'). Thoroughly recommend. I know it, believe in it and still need to be constantly reminded to put the breaks on…

Hi Concetta, found my way here from Sy's Prints and enjoyed looking at your lovely work. I'm by the sea in Cornwall so have a large collection of beach findings I'm always meaning to do something with. Your work has inspired me to get a move on – slowly of course! Great post, thanks.
