Mosaic is a wonderfully accessible art form, whether you consider yourself ‘good at art’ or not!

It is the art of ‘painting with tiles’ and on a Glittering Shards mosaic workshop you will be introduced to a huge variety of materials – bold, matt, shiny, irridescent and downright unusual – that you can combine to make stunning art. With access to lots of images to inspire your design, you will be taught how to cut and lay tiles and glass to achieve movement and flow.
I run 7-week mosaic courses, weekly drop-ins and bespoke mosaic workshops for individuals, families, groups and corporate. Drop-in’s and courses are held in my home studio, in South London (SW17) and are small in size so that each student gets lots of attention.
7-week mosaic course
Each 7-week mosaic course runs on a Tuesday evening between 8-10pm and covers the basics as well as more advanced techniques, so you can dive in at whatever level suits you. The cost is £125 plus materials (supplier details provided and you can purchase tiles from my limited supply too. You can expect to pay about £12 – £20 for your tiles). Standard size bases (20 x 20cm), glues and grouts are provided for free. There is maximum of 5 places and course payment is required to secure your place (see booking and cancellations box on the right).

Weekly drop-in’s
The weekly drop-in’s run between 10.30am and 12pm, every Thursday. These are more informal sessions where you can begin, continue of finish a project at whatever stage you are at. You can come every week or as and when suits you! The cost is £14 per session or £60 for a 5 week class pass. The class passes have no expiry date. You provide your own bases, materials, glues etc.. though you have access to my supplies for purchase. There is a maximum of 5 places per session.

Bespoke workshops
Bespoke classes are arranged at mutually convenient time and place and shaped around your goals. This can be simple mosaic craft projects such as picture frames and coasters. We can also arrange a one day workshop or a full, bespoke course covering the basics through to more advanced techniques such as 3d, reverse method and outdoor mosaics. I can provide:
- one-to-one tuition
- one day / weekend workshops for groups of friends (especially fun for celebrating birthdays!)
- family mosaic making (either one day or spread out over a period of time) to create a unique, lasting piece of family art
- workshops for workplace team events
- workshops for festival and arts events
You can make wall art, decorative objects, flower pots, paving stones, mosaic initials or words! The possibilities are endless and costs will vary depending on the event type / number of participants. Please get in touch and I will discuss ideas with you and provide you with a quote.
