Instead of using cement, we used air drying clay (&#8216;<span id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_1\" class=\"blsp-spelling-error\">das<\/span>&#8216;).<\/p>\n<p>You will need some air drying clay and &#8216;<span id=\"SPELLING_ERROR_2\" class=\"blsp-spelling-error\">tesserae<\/span>&#8216; of your choice. Isabella used shells and beads, but you can use a wide range of things &#8211; for a list of the things you can use to make children&#8217;s mosaics see my previous post (titled &#8216;Making Mosaics with Children Part Two&#8217;).<\/p>\n<p>Roll out the clay. Make sure it is thick enough so that pieces can be pushed in sufficiently to hold (say half an inch).<br \/>\n<a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_qsoYm16IPZk\/SpWdGiT_UnI\/AAAAAAAAAPM\/As_fIGRYHWk\/s1600-h\/100_6283.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5374374465951978098\" style=\"margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_qsoYm16IPZk\/SpWdGiT_UnI\/AAAAAAAAAPM\/As_fIGRYHWk\/s320\/100_6283.JPG\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nCut the clay into the shape you want &#8211; we made a rectangle.
