Goodness, I have just checked and its been 9 months since I did a round up of my students’ mosaic art work. So its about time to reveal some eye candy of mosaic works (in progress and completed) – mostly by people who are brand new to mosaic art.
At the start of my 7 week course (run in South London), we often go through photos of previous students work – people love to see what is possible – but often they are intimidated by the quality of work. I reassure them that within 7 weeks they too will have made a beautiful piece. And they do. I am unashamedly one of those people that believes in the innate creativity of all humans – that the secret ingredient is not some magic mosaic making gene, but a bit of skilling up and guidance and a whole lot of belief in your students so that they can believe in themselves. I think the following photos are the proof….
And in case you haven’t seen, from January 2013 I am starting an evening mosaic drop-in class – it will be the last Wednesday of the month every month. Details of this and of classes are here.
Any chance you’re thinking about doing a class online? I’d love to learn from you but distance will prevent it from happening. Thank you for sharing the student’s works, it’s amazing what they can do in such a short amount of time. I look forward to seeing the finished pieces when you have time.
Thanks for your comment Laura. Yes and yes and yes!! Sign up to my newsletter to stay in touch and hopefully, one day in the not toooo distant future you will get the news in your inbox. In the meantime if you click on “Tips and Resources for Mosaic Artists” (under Learn Mosaics in the main menu) that should give you some ideas in the meantime 😉
I love Yvonne’s mosaic of Battersea Power Station, and have often thought about doing one of the Houses of Parliament. Looking forward to seeing how they all look when they’re finished!
Yes that is going to be a beauty when its done! How lovely it would be to have you on a course Nat. I have a student that comes every week from Maidenhead at the mo so maybe …?!! xx
