This is what it was like before….
Here’s how it looks now….
There are more involved ways of creating mosaic garden pavers, involving the reverse method, casts and cement. But for a quick and easy way, just buy cheap garden slabs. Make your mosaic on mesh, sticking the pieces to the mesh using cement adhesive (thinset). When this complete, use more cement adhesive to adhere the whole piece of mesh to your slab. I actually used the cement adhesive to grout too (you can do that but you can’t stick with grout!)
As for me, five more to go (a snail, a ladybird, dragonfly, cricket, bee!).
oh wow, beautiful… I would love to do something like this one day 🙂 Have fun on your camping trip!!!!
Great job Concetta. I hope you have a blast with the family.

happy camping
Just beautiful..I love that butterfly! Thanks for visiting my blog and for the sweet comment! I will be back soon to check on the other mosaic creatures! I would love to see them together in the patio!!
That is just utterly lovely… way too pretty to step on it! Ha, ha… I'd be the person that stomps over your lawn as to not touch the mosaics…
ha ha! Funny you say that, one of my students refuses to step on it!! Its very sturdy though 🙂
this is just lovely Concetta!

LOVE!
Really looking attractive, Just woundering How these decorative pavers can give an ravishing look to a garden.
Thanks you Dublin! Yes, I still have 5 more to do!!
Concetta, I Am So INSPIRED.
I just tiled my bathroom backsplash and have decided to dive into mosaics with my students and your ideas are simply AMAZING.
I teach at a Montessori school and have been charged with a garden path and guess what the high school students are doing to decorate the paving stones?? I’m also thinking water fountain backsplashes created by the upper elementary students out of stained glass and cement pavers made by lower elementary students.
Thanks for the brilliant ideas!!
Jenn
Hi,
I’m looking to start a mosaic in my garden and this article has been really helpful. Thank you! x
you are very welcome 🙂
Hi
Can you explain the step-by-step process? What is “mesh” and where do you buy it! Can you purchase mosaic pavers that are already made?
Hello Catherine
Mesh is also called Fibre Glass mesh and is sold by most suppliers to mosaic artists.
See books here for step by step instructions http://glitteringshards.com/books-and-links/
And here for suppliers.

Good luck!
