Here’s how it looks now….
There are more involved ways of creating mosaic garden pavers, involving the reverse method, casts and cement. But for a quick and easy way, just buy cheap garden slabs. Make your mosaic on mesh, sticking the pieces to the mesh using cement adhesive (thinset). When this complete, use more cement adhesive to adhere the whole piece of mesh to your slab. I actually used the cement adhesive to grout too (you can do that but you can’t stick with grout!)
As for me, five more to go (a snail, a ladybird, dragonfly, cricket, bee!).

That is just utterly lovely… way too pretty to step on it! Ha, ha… I'd be the person that stomps over your lawn as to not touch the mosaics…
ha ha! Funny you say that, one of my students refuses to step on it!! Its very sturdy though 🙂

I just tiled my bathroom backsplash and have decided to dive into mosaics with my students and your ideas are simply AMAZING.
I teach at a Montessori school and have been charged with a garden path and guess what the high school students are doing to decorate the paving stones?? I’m also thinking water fountain backsplashes created by the upper elementary students out of stained glass and cement pavers made by lower elementary students.

Mesh is also called Fibre Glass mesh and is sold by most suppliers to mosaic artists.
